Walking & Cycling
Kilometres of options
Every day there is something new to experience around the camp site. Get out there on foot or on a bicycle! Walk or cycle along the kilometre-long dune areas. The island of Schouwen-Duiveland has built a beautiful walking and cycling route network. The reception team can give you more information about the routes.
Tip: You can rent bicycles, bicycle seats and children's bicycles at reception.
Boswachterij Westerschouwen
330 ha natural area
Boswachterij Westerschouwen is the biggest forest in Zeeland. Discover the area on foot, by bicycle or take a nice ride with your horse, it is all possible. The paved road was built especially so that people who are less mobile can also enjoy it. Along the way you will find picnic tables, bicycle sheds, information posts, a shelter and two lookout towers. The forestry is partly against the beach, so after a morning of active cycling or walking, you can get a breath of fresh air or relax on the beach. The excursion shed is located at the main entrance of the forest on Kraaijensteinweg. The excursion shed is the departing point of multiple guided tours.
Grevelingenmeer
Watersport lovers Take Note!
The Grevelingermeer, the largest salt-water lake in Western Europe, is about 10 minutes’ drive away. Water sport lovers in particular like to come here. The beaches with sunbathing areas have swimming and surfing zones between the two dams. But canoeing, rowing, sailing, diving, and boat trips are among the options when relaxing at Grevelingenmeer. Fishing enthusiasts often find a quiet spot along the dense banks.
Bunkers
Second world war
In Zeeland, you will often find remains from the Second World war. At Schouwen-Duiveland, you will find lots of bunkers when cycling or walking. There are approximately 40 bunkers from the Second world war in the Zeepe dunes and at Slot Haamstede. The command post, the Walvisbunker can be found on the high dune. This bunker and the other accompanying bunkers were part of the Atlantikwall, the more than 2,500-kilometre-long German coastal defence line. Discover the Zeepe dunes, the red-green arrows show the way.
